The National Organisation for Sustainable Development (NOSD) is an operationally oriented, non Government and non profit making organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, and the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950, with its headquarter at Anand district, Gujarat state, India.
This is an efforts of like minded professionals from various discipline such as Social Mobilization & Rural Development, Extension Education and Mass Communication , Agriculture, Business and Finance Management, Civil Engineers, Natural Resources Management, Veterinary, Sociologist, etc. Team had very rich working experience of world largest poverty alleviation programme known as Operation flood implemented by NDDB with the financial assistance of World Bank and EEC. Besides, team members were involved in the planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and advocacy of Tree Growers' projects on rehabilitation of wastelands through cooperative approach. These projects were funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Swedish International Development Authority (SIDA) for five different states of India namely Gujarat , Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Orissa. Presently NOSD implementing project in the Gujarat , state of India . Presently the NOSD is implementing projects in the different rainfed areas of states in India .
The organisation seeks to promote positive ways of working with nature and respecting natural resource capabilities, both to conserve them and to initiate changes in human behavior required for sustainable livelihoods. The goal of NOSD projects is to assist rural communities become more versatile and self-reliant by reforming those social customs that hinder the path to sustainable development and by promoting non-sectarian spiritual and moral values that regenerate sustainable societies. Extensive analysis of local, regional and national scenarios led NOSD to the realisation that successful implementation of sustainable agriculture in rainfed areas requires community participation. There is need to treat every village as a unit and create a system to revive, efficient use and maintain all natural resources exist in the village in a sustainable manner.
